Show Notes

There are some who think that the decline of modern culture (not a statement, people – just a theory argued by some) is due to the fact that sitting down at the table for dinner isn’t common anymore.  We sit on the sofa in front of the TV, ingesting something we’ve microwaved quickly, instead of sitting at the table with our family, eating something that took time to put together.  And there’s some meat to that argument (ha).  Didn’t food used to taste better at the table?

Today, we’re bringing you a conversation with Glenda Groff, blogger and author of the website and cookbook “Around The Family Table,” who has the “putting food together” thing down pat.  We met up with this hard-working lady in the Homemaker building at Horse Progress Days in Mt. Hope, Ohio this month.  Her story is an interesting one, and today we’ll bring you some snippets from the busy moments between her seminars, where she was lecturing on the mouthwatering joys of sourdough.  We tested some samples, just to be sure she was telling the truth.  And then some more, to make sure we weren’t mistaken.  She has also graciously allowed us to read her book’s introduction, so you know the story of how she got started.  And a recipe.  Yum.

She’s a not just an author, blogger, cook, baker and overachiever.  She’s also a chemist, and a farmer, when you think about it.  Follow our links on the Sourdough Microbiome, if you don’t believe us.
